Foam Density

Foam density refers to the weight of a cubic foot of foam. A 1.5 lb. density is a good quality, industry standard cover. It has excellent strength and insulating ability, yet is light enough to maneuver on and off your Hot Tub. We do NOT recommend 1.0 lb foam density covers for Canadian climates due to it's lack of strength and insulation value. Higher foam densities have additional strength and more insulating value, perfect for areas of heavy snow.

Vapor Barrier

The vapor barrier is used to inhibit the foam inserts from absorbing water. Every vinyl wrapped foam insulated hot tub cover will eventually absorb water. If any company is claiming their hot tub covers are 100% water proof, that is simply not true.

Vapor Barrier is generally made with polyethylene (Poly) that can vary in thickness from 1mill., 2mil., 3mil., or 4mil. The thicker the material, the longer it will take for the vapor to penetrate and begin to saturate the foam.

We place our foam inserts inside 4 mil polyethylene "bags" and heat seal the end (some companies use tape).
