MicroPure Filters

Nearly every hot tub and spa uses a filtration system to ensure clean water. Most systems work in the same fashion: water is drawn in to the center of the filter and then pushed out through the filter and back into the Hot Tub. Particles and debris collect on the filter surface. While this principle may be the same in all hot tubs, not all filters are the same.

Basics of Water Filtration

There are 3 things to filter out of your hot tub spa water:

• Solids
  Solid contaminants are particulates that have a rigid shape and a constant volume. In a Hot Tub the solid contaminants (also refered to Solids) are sand and hair as well as larger items such as leaves and twigs. These larger items will generally be caught by your skimmer.
• Liquids
  Liquids flow readily. They do not have a stable shape but have a constant volume. In a hot tub or pool the liquid contaminants are generally body oils or artificial oils such as Suntan oil or perfume. Foams are liquid based and have been mixed with air. These can include make up, deoderants, shampoo, and soap residue (possibly laundry detergants). The average person sweats three pints per hour in a Hot Tub.
• Semi-Solids
  Semi-Solids are solids that are able to bend or break into smaller parts. They flex when they come into contact with a solid object. In a hot tub application, semi-solids are thinks like human skin, human waste, pollen, and other contaminants such as fingernail polish. Out of the three contaminants, semi-solids are the hardest to remove from water.

No more need for Hot tub cartridge cleaners...simple discard the old and replace your micropure filter with a new one.

Hot tub water filtration is based on two standards elements, Micron Rating (The size of the particles that are being filtered) and Efficiency (The percentage of particles above a certain size that are stopped by the filter), not square ft of filtration. MicroPure micron disposable filters have the highest rating in both Micron and Efficiency Rating than any pool and spa filter on the market today.

Micropure filters are designed around the process called "Depth Filtration". Depth filtration (also refered to as Micron Filtration) is a process in which water is forced through caves and caverns. This web forces the water particles to take a different path every time. This is what makes depth filtration so effective. By using this process, the filter removes particles throughout the entire thickness of the filter.

The contaminants are taken out of the water two ways. By getting stuck in the web and by absorption into the material. Polypropylene removes these contaminants and traps them in its fibers, not letting them back into the water. The particles that would have formed a cake on the surface filter will now be spread throughout the entire filter element. The path through the filter media is long and random. Depth filters offer the best chance of contaminants to be captured in both the long term and the short term, and are more likely to capture semi-solids and particles of varying sizes.

Directions for Use

Micron disposable filters are meant to last from 2-5 months depending on use and chemicals added. To get maximum filter life with crystal clear water you do not need to use brighteners, clarifiers, coagulating agents, or stain & scale preventers. Your filters natural properties will attract oils and scum that go through standard filters, so you can decrease or stop the use of defoamers or other anti-foaming agents.

• If switching form a pleated filter to a Micron Filter, we recommend you drain, clean and refill you hot tub with Fresh water
• For best results, use a Pre Filter to remove any contaminants from your water as you fill your hot tub
• Place micron filter in filter compartment
• The filter will start to discolor from the outside in. When you can not see any white in the center of the filter, it is time to replace.
• Expansion of the filter material is normal as it absorbs and removes debris - filtration improves as it expands.
• Do not use defoamers, clarifiers, cleaners, stain and scale mineral removers or descummer chemicals as they will reduce the life of the filter.
• Do not clean or rinse filter - simply replace when it is full. Micron filters have been tested to last up to 5 months for low bather loads, but it is recommended to replace after 3 months for optimal filtration.
